my name is Peter Albrecht.
I am a German composer specializing in film, series, advertising and visual content.

Since graduating from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, I have been passionately dedicating myself to film music and its production. My work is not limited to a specific genre or fixed style but spans a broad spectrum. It ranges from feature films like "VENA," which will be released in theaters in the fall of 2024, to podcast jingles such as "Wahrheit ohne Pflicht" by WDR, to commercials for brands like VITRA, LAMY, DRK, and Mercedes, as well as documentaries like "Alpenfieber," "12 Wochen," and "Stille Wasser."

I derive joy from composing due to music's ability to tell stories that visuals alone cannot convey. Music has the power to evoke emotions that subtly, yet directly, touch the audience, thereby intensifying the visual experience. With music, I can guide a scene, steer it in the right or deliberately wrong direction, amplify or dampen emotions, build or release tension. Even when music is not actively perceived, it remains palpable and, through leitmotifs, can even become a character of its own, providing the viewer with insights that are not visible on the screen.

This is precisely why collaborating with directors and immersing myself in their ideas is a central aspect of my work. The goal is to capture a vision that is sometimes elusive or difficult to express in order to create a musical identity that gives the film its soul.

My musical career has been rather unconventional. I started with the piano, then learned drums, followed by guitar and synthesizer. I played in various cover bands but quickly realized that I preferred writing my own songs. Thus, I began producing EDM and techno, deepening my knowledge of music theory. Studying musicology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt allowed me to solidify this theoretical knowledge and gain deeper insight into various genres and eras. This strong interest in different musical styles has remained to this day and finds expression in film music. At the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, I was also able to further develop this interest practically. During my diploma studies, I scored over 40 projects, learning a great deal about working with different directors, film types, genres, filmmaking, and diverse musical styles.

It fills me with great joy that some of the films for which I had the opportunity to compose the music have been awarded various prizes. For example, the music for "ANNA - A Tale For Tomorrow" was honored with the Best Music Award at the Shorts Film Festival Offenburg, and the film also premiered at the renowned Max Ophüls Festival in 2024. Other projects featuring my music have been represented at festivals such as the First Steps Award, the Young Director Award, the German Business Film Award, and the BAFTA Student Awards, winning numerous prizes there.

From now on I dedicate myself to music in the wonderful team of HYVE-Audio in Frankfurt am Main, where I work as a composer. we are conceptualizing, creating and capturing unique sonic worlds to provide you the most thrilling and immersive audiovisual experience.

cheers,
